The course and practical learning
The integrated portfolio and practical component each contribute 30%; listening and appraising contributes 40%, with a 90-minute, 80-mark examination. Performance, composition and listening develop together. There are no tiers. Our seven MUS codes organise the five areas of study plus shared skills; the component filter describes the three assessment strands rather than OCR entry codes.
Learn through varied real repertoire as well as the original notation and short synthesised audio illustrations here. Suggested examples are not prescribed set works. Use the quick checks for concepts and the PLC tasks for broader musical demonstration with teacher feedback.
Your teacher supplies the current live composition brief, confirms your performance route and checks supervised/authenticated evidence. No particular instrument or assessed composition is assumed here.
