The course and sociological writing
All content is compulsory. Each paper lasts 1 hour 45 minutes and carries 100 marks and half the qualification. There are no Foundation/Higher tiers. Theory, social processes and research methods apply to both papers. SOC1–SOC6 are site identifiers, not official AQA numbering.
Explain mechanisms rather than listing theorists. Use the given item, compare perspectives and evidence, and make a supported judgement. Read extracts from sociological texts to identify their actual arguments, contexts and limitations. The notes include the specified classic studies and grouped glossary explanations; apply methods to families, schools, crime and inequality.
The 30 questions on each page sample knowledge and application. The independent PLC tasks also require longer comparisons, evaluations and ethical research designs. Fictional data are labelled; real examples have dates and sources.
